Manchester City 5-3 Sunderland

Manchester City remain top with 15 points from 15, but Sunderland created the more unusual statistical story.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 Arsenal

Brighton made it three consecutive Premier League wins over Arsenal and handed the champions their first defeat of the season.

Pascal Groß, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andrés supplied the goals. Brighton now sit third on 10 points, behind Manchester City and Arsenal, and their early-season run has become one of the clearest form stories in the division.

For Arsenal, the challenge is to respond after a result that ended their perfect start. They remain second on 12 points, but Brighton showed that the champions can be forced away from their preferred rhythm.

Brentford 3-0 Chelsea

Brentford produced their best-ever start to a Premier League season with a convincing home win.

Jaidon Anthony opened the scoring in the 61st minute, Igor Thiago added a second and Fábio Carvalho completed the result in stoppage time. Brentford’s clean sheet and three-goal margin moved them onto nine points alongside Leeds, Liverpool and Everton.

Everton 1-0 Ipswich Town

Thierno Barry’s 11th-minute goal was enough for Everton, taking his tally to five in seven matches.

Everton remain unbeaten and have now gone unbeaten through their first seven games for only the third time this century. Their afternoon was complicated by Abdul Fatawu’s dismissal after two yellow cards, with the second shown for simulation, but they held on to protect another positive result.

• Alexander Isak scored the winner for Liverpool at Bournemouth, his fourth goal of the season.
• Coventry City claimed their first Premier League goal in 25 years and their first win in the division when Jay Dasilva scored at Nottingham Forest, assisted by goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
